Apr 07, 2010 (newstodate): Latvia's Riga Airport is seeing brisk growth in cargo volumes so far into 2010.
In March a total of 974 tonnes of cargo and mail were handled at the airport - an increase by 29.3 percent, y-o-y.
The totals comprised 452 tonnes of mail and 522 tonnes of airfreight.
Totals in Q1 2010 thus stand at 2,731 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 35.5 percent, y-o-y, including 1,306 tonnes of mail and 1,426 tonnes of freight.
Riga Airport thus overtook Estonia's Tallinn Airport's position as leader in the Baltic region's air cargo in March as Tallinn's volumes dipped by 70.4 percent, y-o-y, to 609 tonnes, due to the shortfall of its ex-China transfer cargo to Russia.
