May 03, 2010 (newstodate): Effective from July 1, 2010, the Latvian ground handling services operator North Hub Services' Finnish arm will start operations at Helsinki Vantaa Airport.
North Hub Services Finland Oy will be a fully-owned subsidiary of the Latvian mother company, initially staffed with some 40 employees to provide the market at Helsinki Vantaa Airport with ground administration, passenger services, baggage handling, ramp services, flight and crew operations, and aircraft servicing including de-icing.
Not surprisingly, the Latvian carrier airBaltic will be the new handling company's launch customers, but North Hub Services Finland Oy is in talks with more airlines over contracts from the winter season 2010/11.
North Hub Services Finland Oy is now in the process of acquiring ground handling equipment for its new operations from manufacturers including Charlette, Guinault, Hydro, FMC, Mulag and Zodiac.
North Hub Services' CEO, Janis Balkens, will be managing director of the Finnish subsidiary, while Laura Vecvanaga has been named Operations Director.
