Jun 16, 2010 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo's freighter services from May 12, 2010, have seen a warm response in the market.
-The start for our freighter services has been very positive and well received in the markets, says Erkka Suvikumpu, Finnair Cargo VP marketing & business development.
-We currently operate four rotations per week, two to Hong Kong and another two to Seoul, and we are indeed looking for the possibility to add one more rotation but have not decided on which destination to add.
-It is also still too early to say what will be decided concerning the second MD-11 aircraft that is now operating Finnair leisure flights during the summer, says Mr Suvikumpu.
Finnair has, however, earlier stated that the last remaining passenger MD-11 in the fleet will be converted into freighter after the season, while it remains to be seen if it will go to Finnair Cargo by then, or be sold off to another operator.
In either case, the Indian market might be under consideration for freighter operations by Finnair Cargo, to supplement their existing passenger services that are also reportedly to be expanded significantly from the end of this year.
