Aug 11, 2010 (newstodate): Oslo Gardermoen Airport has come out to deny impressions that it is actively supporting the project group "Gateway To Scandinavia" set up to promote more airline traffic at the airport.
-The project has presented itself to us, and we have had a very interesting dialogue. We are basically positive towards any effort that may lead to more traffic and more routes, and we wish this project and the people behind it any success in their endeavors. Unfortunately, however, the project has formulated itself in a way that may lead to the impression that it is a formal cooperation with Oslo Gardermoen Airport and even coordinated with the airport's marketing department. This is not the case, says Knut Stabak, Oslo Gardermoen Airport marketing manager.
-We are, however, also not too happy with the designation "Gateway To Scandinavia" used by the project as this may easily create confusion in the market, and at least we hope it will not be used outside Norway.
-The slogan "Gateway to Scandinavia" has actually been coined by Oslo Gardermoen as far back as 1997, and its use by the project may lead to mistakes about who is behind the project and its relation to the airport, says Mr Stabak.
Heading the Gateway To Scandinavia-project is Henrik Jacobsen, business controller at Q-park in Norway, while Martin Langaas is responsible for route development & market analysis, and Bjorn Leander is responsible for market & network relations.
