Aug 16, 2010 (newstodate): Time is running out for the TU-154 aircraft operated by Uzbekistan Airways.
The carrier has set December 31, 2010, as the cut-over date for the service life of the obsolete aircraft that is being replaced by western-built aircraft.
The last route to be served with TU-154 aircraft will be Nukus to Tashkent on the last day of the year.
The carrier still has four TU-154 aircraft in its fleet that totals 33 aircraft including seven Airbus and 11 Boeing aircraft.
Uzbekistan has placed orders for two Boeing 787, four Boeing 767-300 and eight Airbus A320 aircraft.
