Sep 16, 2010 (newstodate): Russia's Yekaterinburg Koltsovo International Airport has deepened its cooperation through quite some years with Lufthansa Consulting.
Now on the agenda is the issue of upgrading the airport's passenger and aircraft handling processes.
In August 2010, Lufthansa Consulting conducted an intensive assessment of the airport's ground handling processes.
Having analyzed the current situation and benchmarked it to industry best practice, the German consultancy offered recommendations for improving the quality of service provided to passengers and airlines.
The consultants also made suggestions regarding the further development of the hub function at this largest Russian regional airport.
-The airport has developed and implemented reference models. However, in order to keep up with growing competition and the increasing demands of the airlines - especially in the low-cost sector - these reference models can and should be updated and modified, says Catrin Drawer, Lufthansa Consulting Director Airport Development, acting as the project manager at Koltsovo Airport.
Koltsovo Airport cooperates with more than 30 Russian and international airlines which connect Yekaterinburg with more than 80 cities in Europe, Asia, and North Africa.
After signing a general consulting agreement in November 2005, and contracted in February, 2006, Lufthansa Consulting started working with Yekaterinburg Koltsovo International Airport on its Air Service Development Program, supporting the airport in actively developing air services with a focus on the international market.
