Oct 07, 2011 (newstodate): Finnair's total cargo volumes increased by 10.7 percent, y-o-y, in September 2011.
A total of 13,379 tonnes were carried, including 9,669 tonnes on the airline's passenger aircraft and 3,711 tonnes on freighter operations.
But while the volume carried in passenger aircraft belly holds decreased by 0.2 percent, y-o-y, the volume carried by freighters was up 59.2 percent, y-o-y.
On the passenger aircraft, only Asian cargo lanes produced positive growth, albeit modestly at 2.9 percent to 6,926 tonnes. On all other lanes, negative growth was recorded.
In January-September 2011, Finnair Cargo has transported a total of 107,852 tonnes of cargo including 84,779 tonnes on pax operations and 22,858 tonnes on freighter flights.
This was an increase by 20.6, 7.1 and 148.4 percent, y-o-y, respectively.
During the first nine months of 2011, Asian cargo on passenger flights was up 9.1 percent, to 60,247 tonnes.
