Oct 21, 2011 (newstodate): Fledgling carrier Slovakian Airlines has now received its AOC a few months earlier than expected, and is readying for launch of operations.
The airline, based at Bratislava Milan Rastislav Stefanik and set up by Slovak entrepreneur Arnold Medzihradsky and Mikhail Bagdasarov who is also the owner of the Armenian carrier Armavia, has also taken delivery of its first aircraft, a Boeing 737-500 on a lease contract with Armavia and formerly operated by the Czech CSA.
-We are now working hard on settling all issues pertaining to the launch of operations, and we expect to start flights by the end of this year with ad-hoc charters as well as ACMI operations, says Pavol Hajla, Slovakian Airlines Ground Operations Director.
After this, the carrier plans to launch also scheduled flights from Bratislava to airports in the UK, Italy, Spain and Russia as its first destinations.
