Oct 12, 2011 (newstodate): Slovenia has seen the launch of a new carrier - Golden Air, managed and owned by UK-national Harjinder Singh Sidhu.
Based at the country's Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport, Golden Air launched flight on October 6, 2011, between Maribor and London Stansted Airport, using a Cessna 510 Citation on the route via Vienna International Airport.
The carrier plans to offer three weekly rotations on the route that was originally planned to be served with a Boeing 737-300 aircraft.
Further down the line are plans for more destinations, including flights to Amritsar in India as well as to Birminghan and Bergamo.
Harjinder Singh Sidhu was also behind Air Slovakia, acquired in 2006 but gone bankrupt in 2010.
