Oct 03, 2011 (newstodate): Nordic Aero, part of the Aviator Group, is now in the final count-down for launching cargo handling at Stockholm Arlanda Airport from October 31, 2011.
The company has invested in the acquisition of two new cargo loaders, one Commander 40 and one Commander 60 adding to one Commander 30 already in service, and a team of competent staff has been set up to provide cargo handling service to Nordic Aero's launch customer DHL Aviation.
Alongside the opening at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Nordic Aero will also provide similar services to DHL Aviation at another destination, Bergen Airport in Norway.
-We are initially to focus strictly on providing DHL Aviation with efficient cargo handling services, but as this operation consolidates we are of course eager to expand with cargo handling services into other airports as opportunities arise, says Catharina Redgaard, Nordic Aero Commercial Director.
-Stockholm Arlanda was an immediate case as the handling market has so far been monopolized by one provider, Menzies, only. Conditions vary from one airport to another, but as we are part of the Aviator Group together with three other companies, Novia, Roeros Flyservice and Norport Ground Handling, we will be in a position to move if we see new business opportunities elsewhere.
-And we have certainly not involved ourselves in this new business segment to restrain ourselves to serving one customer only. We will go for growth, and one of the Aviator Group companies, Novia has been in the cargo handling segment for years, says Ms Redgaard.
