Oct 25, 2011 (newstodate): Uzbekistan has completed the reconstruction of infrastructure at Nukus Airport, in the western part of the country.
The project has comprised renovation and extension of the runway to 3,000 m, a new apron and new aircraft parking stands.
The Uzbek state has decided to modernize the country's airport, and project include redevelopment of the runways in the airports of Termez, Andijan and Nukus, with works to be carried out in 2011-2013.
The runway lighting systems in the airports of Karshi, Namangan and Ferghana are also to be upgraded.
