Nov 24, 2011 (newstodate): June 1, 2012 will see the first flight of the new Icelandic low-cost carrier under formation, WOW Air.
The airline, based at Keflavik Airport, will come out strongly with flights to a total of 12 European destinations, including Alicante, Basel, Berlin, Copenhagen, Krakow, London, Lyon, Paris, Stuttgart, Warsaw and Zurich, but does not exclude future expansion into more distant markets.
Flights will be performed with two Airbus A320-200 aircraft, operated by the Icelandic-owned Lithuanian ACMI provider Avion Express, and the aircraft will be flying on an Lithuanian AOC as Avion Express' other aircraft.
WOW Air has been set up by Skuli Mogensen and Matthias Imsland, till September 2011 CEO at Iceland Express.
