Dec 08, 2011 (newstodate): Grand vision, harsh realities: The Czech carrier CSA is pulling out of its venture for establishing a hub in neighboring Slovakia.
The carrier has announced the end of flights on route from Bratislava to destinations including Amsterdam, Larnaca and Paris, and seasonal flights to Paris in 2012 will also not be performed.
Starting from June 2011, CSA launched operations from Bratislava Airport in an effort to capitalize on the situation that has seen Bratislava Airport losing much traffic while several Slovak airlines have gone bankrupt over the last few years.
But competition from Austria's Vienna Airport, only 65 km from Bratislava, obviously proved too strong.
