Apr 06, 2011 (newstodate): The management of Kosovo's Pristina Adem Jashari International Airport has now officially been placed in the hands of the Turkish-French consortium, Limak-Airport de Lyon MAS.
The privatization of the airport was decided by Kosovo's government in 2008, and an international tender, designed by the Dutch consulting company Naco Innova, was opened later that year.
Finalists in the tender were Fraport IC, the French company Bouygues Egis, an Albanian-Israeli company Riviera LR Groups, and the Turkish-French consortium Limak Airport de Lyon that eventually emerged as the winner.
Under the 20-year contract, the new management will now take on the responsibility to modernize the infrastructure, expand the airport to 25,000 square meters and invest 100 million Euros in airport projects.
Pristina International Airport has a 2,500 m runway and existing facilities also include a 2,500 sq.m. cargo terminal, operating since December, 2002, with a daily capacity at 100 tonnes.
