May 12, 2011 (newstodate): Lithuania's Kaunas Airport at long last saw its cargo volumes rising again in April after a prolonged period of recession.
A total of 533 tonnes of cargo was handlet at Kanuas, an increase by 72.3 percent, y-o-y.
The month was actually the first month in 2011 with cargo as only air mail shipments passed through the airport during January-March 2011.
The reason behind the renewed growth is the return of services from April 2, 2011, driven by the logistics company Hoptrans in the form of a weekly Jade Cargo Boeing 747-400F from China to Kaunas with shipments for distribution in Central European markets.
