May 13, 2011 (newstodate): The consortium comprising the Danish ground handling company Novia and Badharm International is now gaining momentum in the cargo handling business at seven Indian airports.
So far, the Consortium has hired about 2,500 staff, state-of-the art handling equipment is in place, and since December 2010 the new player has been active in warehousing and handling of freighter aircraft at especially the two large airport at Kolkata and Chennai.
Plans were to open up for the full package of handling including passenger aircraft from the start of this year, but Indian red tape has so far delayed the process.
Hopes and expectations are that these snags will be overcome to allow for full handling activities from mid-May, 2011.
-Novia's role in the Consortium is primarily to provide know-how and transfer experience in areas including Human Resources, safety and other pertinent issues while the Indian partner itself has rich experience in the physical handling aspects, paper flows and procedures, says Ingolf Petersen, Novia.
The new activity has been placed with a new entity, Novia International Consulting owned by Lars Thuesen, that was not part of the recent acquisition by Aviator Airport Alliance that, however, still holds an option to buy into this activity as well.
