Jun 09, 2011 (newstodate): Cargo volumes at Estonia's Tallinn Airport are rising again in May after a slow start to the year.
A total of 1,583 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport; an increase by 182.6 percent, y-o-y.
Growth in May was driven by import cargo that increased by 265.9 percent to 1,359 tonnes, which was an unprecedented high for the airport.
The modest cargo export also increased by 27.1 percent to 138 tonnes.
After the first five months of this year, total cargo volumes are three percent below 2010-levels, accruing to 5,558 tonnes of cargo and mail.
At Tallinn Airport, cargo import volumes have thus increased significantly for three months in succession.
