Jun 03, 2011 (newstodate): Effective from June 13, 2011, Lufthansa Cargo is adding Iceland as a new market in the Nordic region.
During the summer season, Lufthansa is operating two weekly flights between Keflavik and Dusseldorf and Hamburg with CRJ900 and Boeing 737, respectively, and Austrian Airlines is operating a weekly flight to Vienna with Boeing 737 aircraft.
Lufthansa Cargo has contracted Bluebird Cargo to provide GSSA services in the Icelandic market, and Airport Associates has been contracted to provide the cargo handling at Keflavik.
-Lufthansa Cargo is one of the major players in the aviation and has not been represented in Iceland until now. The extensive cargo network of Lufthansa Cargo will be a great benefit to the Icelandic airfreight market and will offer Icelandic importers and exporters the opportunity to extend their business further, says Magnus Magnusson, manager sales Bluebird Cargo.
Responsible for the Iceland market is Michael Schoop, Lufthansa Cargo Regional Manager Denmark & Iceland.
