Jul 01, 2011 (newstodate): Malmo Airport, in southernmost Sweden has seen the launch of new low-cost flights to Alicante, in Spain.
Effective from June 30, 2011, Ryanair has started two weekly services on the route with Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
At a press conference to launch the new route, Ryanair further announced the decision to offer also flights on a new route from Malmo to London, effective from November 2, 2011, providing the first direct connection between these two destination.
Already from July 3, 2011, Ryanair is also to start operations on a new route from Malmo to Madrid, Spain.
The new routes are also targeting the nearby Danish market, where Ryanair has opted out from setting up routes at Copenhagen Airport due to high operational costs.
