Aug 10, 2011 (newstodate): DHL Express is seeing good results from its operations at Denmark's Billund Airport.
Since April 6, 2010, the company has stationed one Boeing 757-200F aircraft at Billund Airport, flying in from Leipzig in the morning and going back to Leipzig again in the night, connecting western Denmark more closely to the DHL hub at Leipzig.
-We are now seeing load factors on the flight over 70 percent, and best of all the operation is balanced, with only three percent difference between export and import volumes, says Michael Hovgaard Poulsen, DHL Express.
-With these high and balanced loads a next move might be to replace the Boeing 757-200F freighter with a larger aircraft when such become available and if warranted by demands in the market, says Mr Poulsen.
With the freighter service, DHL Express can offer earlier delivery and later pick-up times to customers in western Denmark, allowing for full utilization of a normal work day.
The freighter service is backed up by DHL Express' new logistics center at Taulov, recently opened.
