Sep 02, 2011 (newstodate): In August, Estonia's Tallinn Airport took another strong leap forward in cargo volumes in 2011.
A total of 2,796 tonnes of cargo was handled at Tallinn Airport, an increase by 273.8 percent y-o-y.
The dynamic growth was again driven by imports that grew 375 percent to 2,520 tonnes.
Totals in January-August 2011 are thus up by 50.7 percent, y-o-y, to 11,496 tonnes.
The strong growth is as always reflecting the imports from China of shipments destined for Russia and trucked from Tallinn Airport by trucks over the Russian border, managed by the Turkish company ULS that runs its own terminal and trucking lines at Tallinn Airport.
