Jan 26, 2012 (newstodate): Despite the current uncertainty around Jade Cargo, the Lithuanian logistics provider Hoptrans remains determined to maintain a focus on air cargo transportation into Kaunas, Lithuania.
-We are of course following closely what decision will be made concerning Jade Cargo that has been a success with us, with Agility and with our customers, says Dalia Ciutaite, Hoptrans managing director.
-But we worked with Polet before Jade and have very good connections to the world of aviation, so we will definitely secure the continued freighter operations from China into Kaunas from where we distribute incoming cargo on our finely-tuned network of road feeder services to final points of destination in the Baltic, Central and Eastern European countries.
-We are actually now increasing our truck fleet to 200 units, demonstrating our determination to continue this traffic, and we are also setting up a new office in Minsk, Belarus, to manage and grow business in this market.
-Q1 2012 will be slow as in every year, we are now amidst the Chinese New Year season, so we will have to see how 2012 will develop. So far signs are that traffic and volumes are growing again, so we are rather confident, says Ms Ciutaite.
By the end of September 2010, Hoptrans launched its weekly IL-96-400T freighter flight operated by Polet Airlines from Shanghai to Kaunas Airport. From April 2, 2011, it was replaced by Jade Cargo with a weekly flight from Shanghai for Hoptrans and Agility in Lithuania, and since June 18, 2011, Lufthansa Cargo Lufthansa Cargo has taken over the flight from Kaunas Airport to Frankfurt, extending to Bombay, India.
