Jan 10, 2012 (newstodate): Kazakhstan's national carrier Air Astana is planning for an IPO in 2012 to boost its financial strength in support of new aircraft acquisitions.
Plans are to convert an MoU into a firm order for three Boeing 787 and new Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, which will be the airline's first owned wide-body aircraft.
In the fleet now are 24 narrow-body and two wide-body aircraft, all of which are leased, on a route network comprising 54 destinations.
The carrier, a joint venture owned by the Kazakh state with 51 and BAE Systems with 49 percent, is unique in having operated with black figures ever since its launch in 2003.
