Jan 02, 2012 (newstodate): Close to the end of 2011, the Russian carrier Saravia, Saratov Airlines based in Saratov, found new owners.
Aeroflot took over Saravia in October 2011 as one of six airlines transferred to its ownership by the state organization Rostekhnologii after the demise of AiRUnion.
But as the carrier did not fit into Aeroflot's plans for the future, the controlling stake of 51 percent of the shares were sold to undisclosed private Russian investors.
The sale to private investors is expected to improve the carrier's ability to come up with a new business plan and plans for new aircraft to replace the existing fleet of 10 aging YAK-42 aircraft.
