Feb 29, 2912 (newstodate): Norway was again the only Nordic IATA export airfreight market showing sustained positive growth in January 2012.
Increasing by 9.5 percent, y-o-y, a total of 7,207 tonnes of IATA export airfreight was generated in the Norwegian market, as usual dominated by loads of fresh salmon exports to markets in Asia and the Middle East.
Each holding 14 percent of the market, Finnair Cargo and Qatar Airways lifted 1,009 and 1,006 tonnes, growing by 13.5 and 259 percent, respectively, compared to same month in 2011.
Qatar Airways first started operations into Norway from October 5, 2011, accounting for the extraordinary rise.
Among the CASS Top-10 airlines, SAS and Lufthansa also increased their volumes, rising 26.9 and 22.4 percent, y-o-y, to #5 and #6, respectively, and Emirates and Air France Cargo also increased by 10.2 and 23.2 percent, y-o-y, to #9 and #10 with 274 and 154 tonnes..
#3 on the list, KLM Cargo carried 950 tonnes, followed by Korean Air Lines with 909 tonnes, but both carriers lost volumes by 11.1 and 13.1 percent, y-o-y, respectively.
Thai Airways managed to increase volumes by 6.9 percent to 494 tonnes, while Singapore Airlines Cargo dropped 10.1 percent to 466 tonnes.
