Feb 29, 2012 (newstodate): One of the world's largest ground handling companies, Swissport is preparing to launch business in Denmark.
Long circulating as a rumor within industrial circles, the information now seems to be confirmed by the Danish labour union 3F organizing ground staff at Copenhagen Airport.
According to 3F's website, the union has approached Swissport to seek information on the company's intentions and to present its claims on working conditions and agreements regulating the Danish labor market.
Swissport is already present in the Nordics since December 1, 2011, when it opened ground handling activities at Finland's Helsinki Vantaa Airport under an agreement with Finnair.
According to industry sources, Swissport will focus on handling of air cargo at Copenhagen Airport, in the first phase at least.
No comments from Swissport or other parties are yet available.
