Apr 18, 2012 (newstodate): On April 17 2012,Havas Europe announced the opening of ground handling services at Frankfurt Airport.
At the same time, the company announced the move of its HQs from Riga, in Latvia, to Frankfurt reflecting the focus on the German and other new European markets in the eyes of Havas Europe.
First handling customer for Havas Europe at Frankfurt Airport is Alitalia concerning the routes to Milan and Rome totaling 24 flights per week.
Havas Europe, managed by Janis Balkens as CEO, set foot on its first German base only on March 26, 2012, with the Italian carrier Air One as its launch customer operating two daily Airbus A320 flights from the airport.
Havas Europe expects to announcer further news on German airports in the coming months.
In April 2010, the Turkish ground handling company Havas bought 50 percent of the shares in North Hub Services, established in 2009 by Baltijas Aviacijas Sistemas.
North Hub Services consequently changed its name to Havas Europe from December 15, 2011.
