Aug 15, 2012 (newstodate): ULS Airlines and Essenta Logistics in Estonia are working hard to develop sales of the 40 tonnes of cargo capacity on its daily Airbus A310-300F freighter flights from Tallinn to Istanbul and onwards to worldwide destinations.
The project is led by Toomas Orukivi, until June 8, 2012, serving as Estonian Air cargo manager.
-We have just concluded a tour in Lithuania, visiting freight forwarders and other people in the country's airfreight business, and a similar tour will be launched in Latvia next week, rounding off with continued talks with Estonian airfreight forwarders to gather information on which destinations and services are needed the most, says Mr Orukivi.
-In focus are onward flights from Istanbul to destinations in the Middle East and Asia, but a range of destinations in the CIS region is also on the agenda.
-We are also in talks with airlines for interline and ASP agreements and several options are already available. However, it still requires time before these are translated into confirmed agreements allowing us to present rates schemes and other details.
-Our Baltic home markets are come first in our planning, but efforts will of course spread to the Nordic markets as well, and freight forwarders remain our main target.
-Most important is to be ready to launch business in time before the pre-Christmas peak, and I am confident that we will be in place by then. In the meantime were are already open to ad-hoc and charter operations from Estonia to Turkey, and we will develop this further, says Mr Orukivi.
After the low summer season, ULS is now back to normal operations from Istanbul to Tallinn with one daily flights on an average.
