Aug 03, 2012 (newstodate): Serving the LCC Iceland Express, the Icelandic cargo GSA Cargo Express is seeing good results in this year's H1.
-During the first six months of 2012, Cargo Express has seen an increase of 20 percent over 2011 in export volumes, says Robert Tomasson, Cargo Express managing director and owner.
-As before, we are working mainly on exports to the European market, but have also built up growth in traffic to other areas using mostly Copenhagen and London Gatwick as our platforms.
-Recently we are seeing more imports into Iceland brought on by our GSA network and partner airlines from all over. Our imports are of various nature, ranging from pharmaceuticals to textiles, spare parts and other commodities.
-In June we switched to a new GSA in Germany - Transnautic with immediate positive results from that market, so we are quite happy with how things are progressing, says Mr Tomasson.
Iceland Express is now handled at Copenhagen Airport by Swissport, but Cargo Express has set up a cooperation program with Swissport and Bluewater to service the seafood industry for quick delivery to continental Europe.
This program was earlier established with Spirit Air Cargo Handling that was the handling company of Iceland Express before the move to Swissport from August 1, 2012.
