Sep 21, 2012 (newstodate): Air Canada is within weeks of announcing plans for its launch of a new low-cost carrier, yet to be named.
Presenting the outline of the project at an investor conference in Toronto, Air Canada's CEO reportedly said that the new subsidiary will take to the air "some time" in 2013 with Boeing 767 and Airbus A319 aircraft, reconfigured to increase passenger seat capacity.
So far no destination have been named, but the new low-cost carrier is to operate flights across the Atlantic as well as to destinations in the Americas.
One industry source claims that a recent internal presentation has included flights from Canada to Athens, Barcelona, Lisboa - and Stockholm, in Sweden.
