Nov 05, 2013 (newstodate): The combined cargo volumes through the three top airport managed by Swedavia are down in 2013 - but the negative trend may be turning.
For the period January-September 2013, Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport and Malmo Sturup Airport together handled 147,041 tonnes of air cargo, corresponding to a drop by 11.1 percent, y-o-y.
In September, the combined volumes were, however, "only" down by 4.5 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 29,800 tonnes, indicating that the negative pressure in market was easing.
Worst hit in 2013 among the three airport is Gothenburg Landvetter Airport where volumes in September were down 6.4 percent in September, but 27 percent during January-September 2013.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport has performed better in 2013, with volumes up 6.1 percent in September, and down "only" 2.6 percent during the nine months.
For Malmo Sturup Airport the decline was 8.8 percent in September, and 10.7 percent during January-September 2013.
In the first nine months of this year, Stockholm Arlanda handled 92,750 tonnes, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport handled 37,632 tonnes, and Malmo Sturup Airport handled 16,659 tonnes.
