Dec 03, 2013 (newstodate): Bulgaria's Sofia Airport is expecting a marked decrease in down-time during this coming winter period.
Starting from November 14, 2013, the airport has been upgraded to Cat IIIB standard, allowing for operations by certified pilots and with fully-equipped aircraft under adverse weather condition with horizontal visibility down to 75 meters.
This is expected to translate into fewer diversions and less flight irregularities at the airport.
During this winter period, Sofia Airport will have direct flights to 44 destinations including 42 international and 2 domestic, operated by 19 airlines.
