Feb 28, 2013 (newstodate): Lithuania's new airline under formation, Air Lituanica is now planning for launch of flights by June or July 2013.
-We are currently in negotiation with several airlines concerning signing of interline agreements and code-share arrangements allowing Air Lituanica's passengers to connect to and from flights by other carriers on through-tickets, and this necessarily requires time and detailed considerations, says Simonas Bartkus, Air Lituanica CCO since February 1, 2013.
-We will start out with two Embraer E-170 or E-175 aircraft, but as there is ample availability of these aircraft in the market we are in no haste. The goal is to grow the fleet to five aircraft in three years, and we will need 20 pilots and 20 cabin crew members for a start, with the recruitment process underway.
-As earlier announced, we will start out with flights from Vilnius to six destinations, selected from a short-list comprising 10 destinations, and the exact decision on these as well as the opening of bookings will be announced during the latter part of April 2013, says Mr Bartkus.
