Feb 26, 2013 (newstodate): Ukraine's Kherson Airport has taken a step further towards the eventual goal: launch of traffic.
The state aviation authorities have now certified the airport and included it in the register of airports in Ukraine.
The airport has one 2,500m runway and will initially have the capacity to handling of 100 passengers per hour, with the terminal equipped with two passenger bridges.
Works are progressing for construction of new airport facilities, the runway is amid maintenance works, and all projects are being speeded up to prepare for the opening of commercial operations.
By mid-March the airport and the authorities will meet to assess the progress of the projects and set a preliminary date for opening of commercial services.
