Mar 05, 2013 (newstodate): In Lithuania, the general manager of Kaunas Airport now confirms his decision to step down on March 15, 2013, after only a brief period in the position.
-Contrary to speculations to the opposite, my decision is not driven by the ongoing project towards changing the Lithuanian airport infrastructure and management. There are other reasons that I would not want to expose, says Povilas Ogianskis, Kaunas Airport general manager.
-I have no subsequent job plans in place, but after serving with the state I will most probably return to the private sector again, says Mr Ogianskis who took up his position at Kaunas Airport only from November 2012, coming from a position as Director of Commerce at Syntezy, a company in Lithuania's oil and energy sector.
The position as Kaunas Airport general manager was filled from January 2008 till the end of July 2012 by Arijandas Sliupas, who is now, since December 2012, serving as vice-minister of transportation in Lithuania in charge of the aviation sector.
In his new position, Mr Sliupas is driving the process for changing the country's airport infrastructure, presumably heading for a corporatization of the airports to form a single entity under a unified management structure.
