Apr 11, 2013 (newstodate): Estonian Air is to upgrade its services from Tallinn to St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport.
The carrier is to replace the SAAB 340 currently used on the route with Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft offering 88 seats and the Embraer 170 offering 76 seats.
In the same process, flying time on the route, served daily, will also be reduced by 15 minutes.
St Petersburg was long on the wishing-list of Estonian Air, but despite repeated applications, the Russian authorities still denied access to the until at last granting traffic rights with the first Estonian Air flight to St Petersburg on July 27, 2009, with SAAB 340 aircraft four times weekly.
Estonian Air is to hand back the 33-seater SAAB 340 within the coming weeks, while still stuck with its three CRJ900 NextGen aircraft that have been up for sale since summer 2012.
