Apr 02, 2013 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic has decided to expand its fleet of Bombardier Dash-8 Q400 aircraft.
The airline has signed a contract with the Danish aircraft leasing company, Nordic Aviation Capital, for four more Q400 aircraft that have now been ordered from the Canadian aircraft manufacturer.
Already in the fleet of airBaltic are eight Q400 aircraft, the first of which was delivered in November 2009.
These eight aircraft were originally acquired directly from Bombardier by the carrier itself, but in December 2010 airBaltic and Nordic Aviation Capital signed a sale & lease-back contract comprising the financing and leasing terms for the Q400 aircraft fleet.
airBaltic plans to operate an all-Bombardier aircraft fleet comprising Dash-8 Q400 and 10 CS300 aircraft to be delivered from Q4, 2015 and with options for a further 10 aircraft of this type.
