Jan 04, 2014 (newstodate): Despite their joint ownership, KLM Cargo and Air France Cargo are still operating on separate AWBs which is somewhat blurring the actual picture of the companies' standing in the CASS rankings.
In November 2013, KLM Cargo was thus ranked #2 with 976 tonnes of export cargo sold in the Danish market.
In the same month, Air France Cargo sold 170 tonnes on its AWBs, and if counted together KLM/AF Cargo accounted for 1,146 tonnes, beating the actual #1 on the Danish CASS list, SAS Cargo that generated 1,083 tonnes in November 2013.
And while SAS Cargo was down in volumes by 3.3 percent, y-o-y, KLM Cargo increased by 38.2 percent and AF Cargo by 3.2 percent.
Similarly in the Norwegian IATA export cargo market, topped by Qatar Airways with 1,474 tonnes and up 123.7 percent, y-o-y.
Here #2, KLM Cargo sold 1,326 tonnes on its AWBs, and #12, AF Cargo 354 tonnes, together totaling 1,680 tonnes with KLM Cargo rising 44.9 percent and AF Cargo up 618 percent, y-o-y.
In the Swedish market, Lufthansa Cargo was ranked #1 in November with 1,223 tonnes, followed by #2, SAS Cargo with 1,135 tonnes.
Here KLM Cargo was 3rd with 1,117 tonnes while AF Cargo did not make it to the exclusive Top-10 list.
But while Lufthansa Cargo was down 14.9 percent, and SAS Cargo dropped 25.7 percent, KLM Cargo was up 69.8 percent.
And if Air France Cargo actually sold just 107 tonnes of export cargo in the Swedish market, KLM/AF Cargo would have snatched the #1 position on the podium in the Swedish IATA cargo market as well.
