Jan 07, 2014 (newstodate): Lithuania's new carrier Air Lituanica came off to a good start in 2013.
-Since our first flight on June 30, 2013, Air Lituanica has carried 50,000 passengers, and performed more than a thousand departures from European airports aggregating over 2,000 flight hours, says Sandra Meskauskaitė, Air Lituanica Communication Manager.
-We currently offer regular flights from Vilnius to Brussels, Berlin, Prague, and Munich, and will launch flights to Paris on February 14, 2014.
-In the plans for 2014 is the addition of two more Embraer aircraft, taking our fleet to a total of three aircraft enabling us to launch flights to new destinations, with details soon to be released.
Air Lituanica received its AOC on June 26, 2013, allowing it to operate own aircraft, and on August 5, 2013, Lithuania's Civil Aviation Administration issued the Commercial Activity License for Air Lituanica.
After the abrogation of the lease contract with Estonian Air for one E-170 aircraft Air Lituanica is now operating a single Embraer 175 on a leasing contract with ECC Leasing Company, an Embraer subsidiary.
So far, the airline has not, however, released any details on its financial performance allowing for a closer look into its economy and prospects for future development.
