Oct 14, 2014 (newstodate): Sweden's Malmo Sturup Airport is seeing its cargo volumes rising in 2014 thanks not least to the operations by two Russian airlines.
In the first nine months of this year, a total of 18,474 tonnes of cargo has been handled at the airport, an increase by 10.02 percent, y-o-y.
In 2013, the trend at the airport was negative in cargo volumes that dropped 10 percent to 22,217 tonnes.
But starting from April 2014, ABC Airlines is operating a weekly flight at Malmo Sturup Airport as an en-route stop on the route between Amsterdam and Moscow with Boeing 747-8F freighter, connecting beyond Moscow to its network in North America and Asia.
This service came on top of of the Volga-Dnepr Group's subsidiary, Atran Cargo Airlines' weekly Boeing 737-400F freighter service since January 9, 2014.
Serving both carriers with sales in the Nordic region is the cargo GSSA Kales Airline Services.
