Dec 04, 2014 (newstodate): Is the Danish transport and logistics company DSV in a process to acquire UTi Worldwide?
Yes, DSV has approached UTi Worldwide and reportedly been in "advanced talks" with the company. This is confirmed by both parties following on an article by Bloomberg.
But no, discussions never progressed beyond a preliminary stage, and currently there are no discussions taking place between the companies, states DSV and ETi in separate press releases.
Mere rumors? Not long ago, the DSV CEO commented, in connection to the latest highly promising quarterly financial report, that DSV was indeed looking around with money in the purse for more acquisitions.
So it would not be overly surprising if DSV and UTi would meet for another round of talks some time, somewhere..
Since its foundation in 1976 by 10 independent Danish haulers, the company has achieved rapid expansion and international presence, predominantly through a series of strategic competitor acquisitions, the most important being Samson Transport in 1997, DFDS Dan Transport in 2000, Bachmann in 2004, Frans Maas in 2006, and ABX Logistics in 2008.
UTi Worldwide operates 310 offices and 230 logistics centers in 59 countries.
