Jun 24, 2014 (newstodate): Despite sustained objections from the cabin attendants' union, Finnair is continuing its plans to outsource cabin services.
Repeated rounds of negotiations with the Finnish Cabin Crew Union have produced no solution, but despite this Finnair will proceed partnership negotiations concerning outsourcing and expects to conclude the first agreements in the third quarter and outsource the first routes in the fourth quarter, the company says.
-There are potential partners in Finland, elsewhere in Europe, as well as Asia. Each instance of route outsourcing requires careful negotiation and planning to ensure the best possible service quality and compatibility with the rest of our operations. For this reason, we will be proceeding with outsourcing in stages, says Ville Iho, Finnair COO.
Finnair has also announced it is examining the possibility of setting up a Finnish subsidiary that would produce cabin services for Finnair, and it is now moving towards setting up such a subsidiary.
