Aug 07, 2014 (newstodate): After a few years in the shade, Worldwide Flight Services is now gaining momentum in cargo handling operations at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
Starting from September 8, 2014, WFS will be handling Turkish Airlines Cargo at Stockholm as its first major airline customer since the opening of the facility on June 1, 2012.
-This marks a significant turning point for us, and it is a strong signal to the industry that we are in place to compete for more business in the Swedish cargo market, says WFS General Manager for Scandinavia, Thomas Petersen, based at WFS's first Scandinavian terminal at Copenhagen Airport.
Established as a separate business entity, WFS operates a 3,00 sq m cargo terminal at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, managed by Jack Blades referring to WFS Copenhagen that will be supporting the coming build-up of the Stockholm unit together with other WFS stations around.
Since October 30, 2011, THY Cargo has been routing an Airbus A310F freighter from Moscow via Stockholm Arlanda to Istanbul on the return leg of the operation between Istanbul and Moscow, now operated three times weekly.
Serving Turkish Airlines Cargo in the Nordic region is NordicGSA that also arranges trucking services connecting to the carrier's freighter services as well as to and from the adjacent Baltic region.
