Sep 25, 2014 (newstodate): Azerbaijan Airlines is now online on its new non-stop route to the USA.
Starting from September 24, 2014, the carrier is offering two weekly non-stop flights between Baku and New York, using an Airbus A340-500 aircraft.
Plans are already on the drawing board to add a third weekly flight in next winter's schedule, and flights to Asian destinations are also considered.
In Q1 2013, Azerbaijan Airlines took delivery of two ex-Kingfisher aircraft acquired on a lease arrangement with the UK-based aviation services group AJW Capital Partners Ltd.
The carrier is also operating three Boeing 767-300ER and two Boeing 757-200 aircraft on its long-haul routes, pending the delivery in 2014 of two Boeing 787 aircraft.
