Jan 29, 2015 (newstodate): After a pause in operations from October 2013, DHL Express returned to Billund Airport with five weekly rotations from January 12, 2015.
-We are certainly happy to be back in Billund, offering prime services to the market of West Denmark that has experienced a strong growth all through 2014, says Claus Lassen, DHL Express (Denmark) Managing Director.
-With the return of the Boeing 757-200F freighter between Leipzig and Billund we can again offer customers in this region one hour earlier access to imports as well as one additional hour for handing in export shipments.
-We were most satisfied with the performance at Billund from the start, but due to the stress on our European hub at Leipzig we had to re-route several services to bypass Leipzig and utilizing other DHL stations, including also Copenhagen Airport as a temporary remedy.
-Now the situation is returning to normal which has enabled us to reinstate the flights at Billund that remained in our plans despite the temporary suspension.
-Over-all, the Danish airfreight market did not grow in 2014 while we have continued to increase our loads, demonstrating that DHL Express has gained significantly in market share, says Mr Lassen.
DHL Express currently operates 11 daily rotations at Copenhagen Airport.
