Nov 13, 2015 (newstodate): Romania's Suceava Stefan cel Mare Airport has now been reopened after an extensive modernization project.
The airport modernization has comprised three projects, one funded ROMATSA for installation of ATC equipment, one for upgrading the 2,460 m runway and the flight navigation equipment, financed by the European Union, and another to modernize the passenger terminal with funding from Suceava County.
The airport has been closed since January 2014 to allow for the total renovation of the runway, and the first commercial flight will be performed by Tarom on the route from Bucharest on November 12, 2015.
So far, no other airlines have announced plans for opening operations into the refurbished airport.
