Mar 23, 2015 (newstodate): Bad news are again coming from North Germany's Frankfurt Hahn Airport, once a strong cargo airport in the region.
The Chinese carrier Yangtze River Express has announced that it is to move its German operation from Frankfurt Hahn to Munich Airport from this summer as it sees larger cargo volumes in this region, compared to North Germany.
The carrier has been serving the route between between Frankfurt Hahn and Beijing/Tianjin with up to three weekly rotations.
After this, Frankfurt Hahn's only remaining cargo carriers will be Navitrans cooperating with Evergreen with one weekly flight, and Nippon Cargo Airlines.
Air China Cargo retreated from Frankfurt Hahn Airport with the last flight before Christmas 2014, Qatar Airways Cargo left Frankfurt Hahn in favor of Frankfurt Airport from October 27, 2013, Aeroflot Cargo stopped its freighter operations from July 2013, Air Cargo Germany went bust by mid-April 2013, and Etihad Crystal Cargo also left Frankfurt Hahn Airport in favor of Frankfurt Airport from the start of 2013.
