Jan 06, 2016 (newstodate): The Danish airfreight market has been rather depressed in 2015 - but this did not reflect on the performance of DHL Express.
-While the market was at least stagnating in 2015, DHL Express saw growth in volumes by four to five percent, y-o-y, as well as a positive trend in earnings, says Claus Lassen, DHL Express Denmark Managing Director.
-And even under these rather demanding conditions, DHL actually raised rates in 2014 and 2015, and this will be the case in 2016 as well despite the general negative rates trend in the industry.
-DHL will maintain its 20 weekly rotations as well as the daily rotation at Billund Airport, and what is also promising is that a decision has been made to maintain the current level of operations at Copenhagen originally established in 2013 as the "Bypass Leipzig Project" during the construction of DHL Express' European hub at Leipzig Airport causing the company to re-route a number of flights through other airports including Copenhagen , rather than operating them all through Leipzig.
-As everyone, DHL Express is fighting to keep customer loyalty even in a situation where even some of the larger accounts and important industries are facing tough times requiring them to consider even minor cost savings. Our response is to keep many sales people on the streets and close to customers to design and negotiate optimal solutions, and this is of course an investment on our side.
-Anyhow, we are seeing growth in the Danish as well as in our global markets, clearly resulting in increasing market shares, says Mr Lassen.
