Jan 20, 2016 (newstodate): With sanctions lifted, Iranian carriers can again obtain fueling at European airports.
Since 2010, oil companies including Statoil, BP, Royal Dutch Shell and Q8 have stopped deliveries of jet fuel to Iran Air at European airports, forcing the carrier to either operate with limited cabin factors, or re-routing flights via airports in Eastern Europe like Budapest and Prague that still allowed fueling of Iran Air's aircraft.
Starting from January 16, 2016, this ban on fueling was lifted and the first airport to allow refueling of Iran Air aircraft was Paris Orly Airport that performed the first operation on January 19, 2016.
Now, Iranian airlines and banks are renegotiating terms and procedures opening up for Iranian carriers' flights and refueling at all European stations.
