Nov 10, 2016 (newstodate): A new airline is emerging in Italy, with base at Milan Malpensa Airport: Ernest.
The low-cost carrier that has now been awarded its AOC is building up a route network comprising, besides a number of Italian destinations, also Tirana, in Albania, as well as EU-destinations Bydgoszcz in Poland and Sofia in Bulgaria, and Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Initially, the business case for Ernest is the significant diaspora of Albanians living in Italy, and most of the Italian destination will thus have connections to Tirana.
The carrier is awaiting the delivery of its first aircraft, an Airbus A319, formerly operated by Iberia.
